The Venue
You know, kids, back when your grandmother and I were your age, movie theaters only had one screen. No, seriously. Just one screen per theater. No quadraphonic surround-sound,...
The Indie films. The foreign films. Rocky Horror at midnight. The monthly showings of the Big Lebowski. If I had a million dollars I would definitely re-incarnate the Beach Theatre. I'm holding on to my Ciema Paradiso punch ticket. Just in case.

The theater closed a few months ago. There are no plans to reopen anytime soon. It is a shame as this was the only local theater on Saint Pete Beach.

In addition to its film screenings, the Beach Theater has also been...
Beach Theatre is nestled in a shopping district on Corey Avenue at St. Petersburg Beach. It features an Art Deco exterior, a good indication of the movies you will find there. Most are subtitled imports, but you will also find the best of the avant-garde American movies playing at various times. Popcorn and soft drinks are offered, including an unusual one, vanilla creme soda. It also sells...
Downtown St. Pete Beach is a burgeoning little area of small shops and restaurants that's worth browsing. Even though this is a tourist town, the shops are pretty un-touristy.
Nominated for Best Movie Theater for preserving the past and presenting the best modern cinema. Also for saving our natural resourcesbecause of the Beach, people from Pinellas don't have to drive all the way to Tampa Theater to see these films.
Visit the Harp and Thistle, an authentic and extremely welcoming beachfront pub. Another great place to stop for a beer is The Port Bar, a neighborhood establishment right around the corner.
