Help us make it rightIn 1973, 26-year-old Chicago native Alex Dana purchased an existing luncheonette in Chicago's Loop. Although business at the "store" was good, Dana wasn't satisfied. Actually, Dana had a different vision for the location: a full service restaurant. A "joint" that operated from early morning until late at night, a place that offered great food and lots of it, excellent service from friendly...
Veteran Chef, Joe Farina and his talented team have designed a menu focused on fresh seafood flown in daily and prepared simply and tastefully, in the spirit of Italian and Mediterranean cooking. The menu showcases Farina's long-held seafood partners from coast to coast, all under one roof.
Conveniently located in the heart of River North and steps from Chicago's famed Theater District, Rosebud Trattoria is a hit with locals and tourists alike. The idea behind the "Rosebud Trattoria concept" is to find the best ingredients possible and deliver them fresh from the market to the customers table at a moderate price. The result is a Roman inspired trattoria with a genuine Chicago...
Rosebud's new restaurant Joe Fish is a "throwback" that's "intended to elicit awe," writes Mike Sula. Appetizers and salads can "easily stand in for entrees for diners of normal appetite," with options like a salad of poached lobster chunks smothered in Russian dressing, and crab cakes with "sweet, finely shredded flesh" beside a "treacly sweet" slaw.
"Arresting" seafood presentations include...
The Rosebud group has transformed its 5,000-sq.-ft. former Trattoria space in River North into this upmarket New American seafood and steak spot with a full bar specializing in gin cocktails. There’s an oyster bar with champagne pairings, and the stylish dining area features warm wood paneling and plank floors, red and turquoise seating, medieval light fixtures and walls of windows.
At Joe Fish, chef Joe Farina isn't reinventing the wheel, but he is doing things that Rosebud Restaurants group hasn't done before. The seafood-focused menu has new versions of many of the pastas and steaks they're known for but alongside dishes like Bang Bang Pie Shop biscuits and (eventually) pies and fried chicken, and a raw bar with champagne and oyster pairings.
There's a reason why Rosebud Restaurants wanted to hold on to the real estate at 445 N. Dearborn. Besides the River North location, the Joe Fish space, seen under construction here, is expansive with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the street.
The 155-seat buildout features a heavy dose of wood in the furnishings, trim, paneling, and floors. Nods to the restaurant's seafood theme exist in...
After nixing Peter Balodimas' farm-to-table restaurant in the former Rosebud Trattoria space, the new Rosebud concept is finally coming into focus. Rosebud Restaurants and chef Joe Farina are joining the growing seafood trend with Joe Fish, planning a March 1 opening.
Joe Fish will focus on Italian and Mediterranean seafood, a raw bar, and an extensive wine program in the large 155-seat space...
We were kept waiting 45 min for a table although we were there on time. What is the point in having a reservation?
Zagat are you ok!?!. Mussels and sand , crispy calamari - mushy - that's ridiculous.
Great service! Prompt and attentive. I was disappointed in my steak. Bone-in rib eye was cooked to perfection (Medium) but a bit too tough. I had a great Bone-in Rib eye at Rosebuds (same ownership, I think) so I expected the same from Joe Fish. Grilled Asparagus was bit too soft (perhaps overcooked). Other food items were great. I was a party of 5. Others were very pleased. Although, I was the...
Very attentive staff, great food
We have been here a few times and it never disappoints. The food is always very good and the service even better. Yes it's a Rosebud Restaurant and it lives up to the reputation.
