Enter this Jewish deli, which serves Kosher and many more delicacies and have a meal to remember. Vintage-cool décor and a hip diner vibe pervade this space, which fills with business people and students from Columbia College next door. Start with mini Reuben sandwiches, followed by The Woody Allen, a triple-decker sandwich from Carnegie Deli in New York that alternates corned beef and pastrami on soft rye. If you come for dinner, count on heftier options, too, like tender brisket or...

"Stacked sandwiches", "soothing" matzo ball soup and other "traditional" "Jewish deli" standards bring noshers to this "solid" South Looper (with a Lincoln Park sequel) in a "diner"-meets–"art deco"–styled space complete with a soda fountain; service gets mixed marks ("fun" vs. "difficult") and some find "big bills" surprising for the genre, but devotees kvell it's "well worth the price for the...
For all its great food, Chicago is not a big deli town, which endears Eleven City Diner, an old-school deli and family restaurant in the South Loop, to the locals. You can get breakfast all day (latkes and lox are popular, as is the "hoppel poppel": scrambled eggs with salami, potatoes, onions, and peppers) but deli staples like matzo-ball soup and pastrami and corned-beef sandwiches shouldn't...
Who doesn’t want to love this place? It has the old New York Jewish diner schtick nailed all the way down to the signs in the window and the art deco typefaces on the menu. From the soda jerk behind the counter to the matzoh ball soup on the menu, everything seems right. But the service is so spotty, the food so bland and the prices so preposterous that what starts as budding love curdles to...
Worst GM/owner in the history of the universe. I wish I could have recorded the disgusting words that spewed from his mouth when he called me about a client event that HE had been mistaken about (that I never ended up booking at his diner). Stay far, far away.
I was surprised by the 45 minute wait time, but we were not disappointed! You could order a drink while waiting at the candy bar. The staff was extremely friendly. I had a burger and my husband had the brisket. Both were unbelievable! Plus, we didn't wait 45 minutes, closer to 30. Once seated, service was very efficient. The food...
This restaurant is only about a three or four block walk from the Museum Campus. I would describe it as a small traditional looking diner. It has a New York City deli feel with many of the same items that you would order. I had the sweet and sour soup, which was a bit tart, but very tasty all the...
Went on a cold winter day so the wait was not bad. Fantastic corned beef and the mimosa was excellent. Great desserts too. Wait staff was attentive and friendly.
The staff are attentive and friendly without being pushy. Food was awesome and the portions really filling.
casual family restaurant is the cornerstone of a great Chicago neighborhood. ELEVEN is a hybrid of my sincere respect for what family “dining rooms” used to be. I do hope that our restaurant rekindles the feelings of true friendly “diners”—the type of quality restaurants so many of us grew up with (and still crave) which have slowly, but steadily, disappeared from our city’s street corners.

I like the ambiance a lot and the food though it's a little expensive. I like the lox and bagels, lox scramble, sandwiches and soup. Last time I was there I got a free ice cream sandwhich too.

South Loop's classic Jewish delicatessen does not disappoint. Gigantic sandwiches are served heavy on the meat, pickle on the side. Besides the matzo ball soup and corned beef, you'll want to check out the long list of desserts. Eleven City specializes in what most New York style delis do not: patient, friendly staff and comfortable dining.©10Best.com
What to Drink: For an old-fashioned date night, snag a couple of counter stools and ask the soda jerk for an egg cream or malted milkshake to share.
Catering: The restaurant can cater private parties for 10-45 guests.
When to Go: An all-day breakfast menu and generous Saturday and Sunday hours that extend into the early morning make this the perfect last stop of weekend bar crawl.
Parking: Valet is $10, but there is also a lot next to the restaurant that charges $6 for two hours.
The restaurant can cater private parties for 10-45 guests.
