Help us make it rightWe had no idea what Brady St. Pharmacy was going to be like, since it was our first visit. When we first came we immediately noticed many skimpily stocked aisles, selling typical "drug store" products. Not quite sure if it is always like that or if it was "stocking day", it was… peculiar. The café’ is to the left and you can just go and seat yourself. Their menu is typical "diner" food. Their veggie burger was surprisingly scrumptious and their fries were slightly seasoned and perfectly crisp and crunchy. If toastmilwaukee had a top ten list for fries, they would be high on the list. Also, a large for only $1.50 is equally impressive. Brady St. Pharmacy is also home to the Astor Theater.
I've frequented this restaurant on and off for the last 17 yrs. While the food is acceptable: BEWARE THE POOR SERVICE AND UNRESPONSIVE MANAGEMENT. The waitresses are generally UNSMILING, UNHAPPY, UNRESPONSIVE to friendly chit chat or jest, even UNAPPRECIATIVE of APPRECIATION! They behave DISGRUNTLED at giving you change. You have to flag them down to fill your water, or to bring you more coffee, ACTING PERTURBED AT THE IMPOSITION. One long time waitress in particular, walks through the place like a four star Frueher. Today I just tried to lighten things up while ordering a piece of pie: "I'll take the pecan pie because I'm on a diet." To which she replied: "I'm not interested in whether you are on a diet or not. I'm here to take your order and serve you food," and walking away. Whoa! I told her upon her return that I was just being friendly, and she shot back: "I'm being friendly too. I'm here to take your order, and serve you food." I commented that she didn't sound friendly, and asked her why she was always so unfriendly? To which she replied: "You've come here three days this week! Two of those days you asked for a rush order!!" Huh? I remember differently. I told her at the time: "no pressure, but would it be possible for me to get my order sooner? If it's not possible, I understand." After she accomplished this, I tipped her handsomely, and thanked her - both times. This was what she was upset about? At that point, I said that "the next time that I come here, I want another waitress." She flew off the handlel! Told me that she disliked me. Told me to not come back. Told me: "boy, if there was a real manager here, you'd get yours!" ;-) The manager is her boss, so this sounded pretty disrespectful to me. I got up to leave. She continued to rant across the restaurant. What was this like for the other restaurant goers? It may be tough being a waitress, but man, this was so out of line, so rude, so unprofessional. I stopped by the manager to share my experience with him. He instantly took her side, without even hearing me out. "She is only here to take your order and serve you food." Really? (OK then, so now you know what service they provide. You want friendly service - this is not the place.) Next: The waitress rushed over interrupting my conversation with her boss, making further stupid, outlandish, and insulting provoking sorts of remarks. The manager was stoic within her frenzy. She, not he, told me not to come back again! That is one powerful waitress, I'll say! And in front of her boss! To this, the owner just watched on. Weird. Really weird. Maybe I was in Bizzaro, or maybe the Twilight Zone?! Some nightmare! Please make your experiences known here, and at the Better Business Bureau. I come from three generations of grocery store owners, and I learned what service is. For us, the customer was always right. A little goodwill goes a long way. Treat people the way you want to be treated I always say. I will never be back again. . .

I love this place. The diner is small, and the food is pretty lack luster, but there is just something about it that keeps me coming back.UPDATE:...
