Here at The Refinery, we set the bar high when it comes to what we put on the plate. If it wasn’t grown in Florida or produc...ed using ethically sound methods, you probably won’t find it here. We make sure each ingredient is of the highest quality and comes from folks who take great pride and care of their processes, employees, and earthly footprint. See More

Greg Baker and the Refinery staff are committed to utilizing as much as possible from local farmers and suppliers who do it right. Sustainably and ethically right. Then we refine this already beautiful product into something even more amazing and we change it up every week.

We use chipped plates, jailhouse silverware, mason jars and we have a Jackalope in our dining room. Come eat, drink and...

The Refinery Restaurant Review

Crowds congregate at The Refinery for a friendly round of local beers or wines and a weekly changing menu crafted largely with locally sourced ingredients. Table settings are designed to be very casual and homey, think Mason jars and mismatched plates, and a Brooklyn hipster ambience prevails. Typical first courses might be grilled quail with mustard greens, lentils, smoked paprika oil and...

"Each visit provides a delicious, new dish to discover" thanks to the weekly changing American menu at this homey, "relaxed gem" in Tampa where a real "artist" of a chef is "continually inventive" with local, seasonal ingredients; add in an "informed", "über-courteous" staff, "awesome" craft beer and "top-notch" wine and most agree that "for the price, you can't beat it"; P.S. the "rooftop deck...

Hands down the most popular restaurant to hit the Tampa area since, well, we're not sure, The Refinery's culinary MO is "sustainably and ethically right." Ingredients come from farmers, not cans. And those ingredients are assembled into menus that change every Thursday night, but on any given night you may be offered a starter of pork belly with tamarind, roasted radish, pumpkin mole, pepitas,...

High quality southern cooking with some fusion inspiration

I recently ate here on business with a colleague. The décor is rustic in a small dining room. The staff were excellent and energetic. The menu is varied with fusion elements. I enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad and the daily fish special with some curried spices, beans. The gnudi was also good. The wine list is small and limited but...

We came to Refinery with large group on Saturday evening. Even though we had a reservation we had to wait a half hour to get to our table. Because of the delay, we received complementary salads, which was a nice touch. The menu was an eclectic mix of dishes and ingredients. My favorite was was oyster mushroom appetizer served with...

My review from 2015 was 5 stars. Now it is 2 stars and that may be generous

This place was awesome in 2015 and a Huge disappointment in 2016.
The appetizers were pretty good and this is the best we can say for the entire experience.
My wife’s entree was the least bad of the bunch. The fish was pretty good but it felt the rest of the meal was just thrown on the plate. Previously all...

Chef/owner is supposed to be fabulous and I've been waiting to try this place. It did not disappoint. I got the catch of the day which was pan seared redfish and I ate every last bit--I didn't even want to share! We went on a Monday so not crowded, but a decent size group on the rooftop. The fish came...

Will love to visit again

Our first visit here was a success! We happened in on a Saturday that had little traffic for some reason (events in town?) and were sat immediately. Our waiter was attentive, if a bit slow to uncork the bottle of wine we brought with us, and after we got rolling was really on his game.
The menu was definitely interesting...

The Refinery is dedicated to the concept that high-quality food should be available and accessible to all. The menu changes weekly and is for the most part locally sourced and made in house.

Located in Seminole Heights, The Refinery brings nouvelle American cuisine in an unpretentious and laid-back environment. The weekly menu highlights ingenious twists to classic American favorites like Braised Beef Shank, Hanger Steak, Eggplant-Portabella Bulgogi and White Chocolate Peanut Blondie. Food comes in satisfying portions and is best enjoyed when paired with craft beers and wines.

At The Refinery, we believe good food and good drink are a necessity...not a privilege. www.thetamparefinery.com
