This place is as Japanese as the ones that they have in Japan, I might presume that because it is out of this world, the whole experience was really as Japanese as it can be.

Here with wife for drink prior to dinner at Nada. Only at bar on 1st floor. Decor cool. Good draft beer selection and wife enjoyed her cocktail. Crowded. Well dressed clientele. Didn't notice bouncers. Maybe too early.

Japanese-born Rocky H. Aoki founded Benihana in 1964, with the opening of it first restaurant in Manhattan's Upper West Side at 61 West 56th St. This restaurant soon became famous with its theatrical chefs and traditional Japanese architecture and structural engineering. The interior structure of the restaurant was a 150-year old Japanese born Rocky's father found in the countryside of Japan....

Every meal is a show prepared right before you as chefs cook fresh foods on teppanyaki tables. Entrees include steaks, chicken and seafood. Benihana is closed between 2 PM and 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.
